This system consists of two components namely Phenolic resin condensed alkaline conditions and gaseous carbon dioxide  for curing. The binder system is already being used in a number of iron and steel foundries for the mass production of cores.There are also users in the light alloy castings.

With the recent devolepments of Carbophen® resin, the cores can be stored for weeks without affected by moisture absorption.
